AU students begin to get their COVID-19 vaccines

Augusta University students indicated they are ready to get their COVID-19 vaccinations to combat the virus and ensure the health of themselves and others.

As of March 25, Georgia residents 16 and older can now receive COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).

Andy Yee, a student at AU, received his vaccine at Augusta University Care Center on Washington Road. He said he has not yet experienced any symptoms.

There will be a vaccine clinic exclusive to AU members at the Summerville Campus in the Jaguar Student Activity Center Ballroom on April 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Registration for the clinic is available at my.augusta.edu, according to Lisa Kaylor from AU’s Division of Communications and Marketing.

Kaylor said appointments for the vaccine will be scheduled for every 15 minutes.

COVID-19 vaccines are also available at pharmacies, including Kroger, Publix and Walgreens for those who meet the Georgia DPH requirements. Vaccines and appointments available can be found based on location at vaccines.org.

For those interested in volunteering opportunities, Augusta Health is seeking medical and non-medical volunteers for future clinics. Volunteer applications can be found on the Augusta Health Vaccine page.
