Augusta University women’s basketball coach Millette Green is taking a new position as assistant coach at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Assistant coach Celeste Stewart will take her place as interim head coach.

Green expressed gratitude for the support of campus and surrounding community during the time she served as head coach of the Jaguars.

“I’m thankful for the support we’ve had for the past five years, and I hope that it continues to grow,” said Green.

She said AU has much to offer to new students and recruits with women’s basketball competing in one of the best NCAA Division II conferences in the country for the sport.

“I definitely think Augusta University is a hidden gem,” she said. “It’s so much here as far academics as well as athletically.”

Green said with great additions to the team and program, she sees AU women’s basketball competing for a championship in the future with Stewart’s leadership.

“I’m happy that coach Stewart has the opportunity to take over and take the program to new heights,” said Green. “I feel like the program is in good hands with coach Stewart.”

Green said she is excited to see what Jaguars have in store for the upcoming season.

“I definitely challenge the campus community and surrounding community to come out and support the women’s basketball team,” she said

Though she is leaving Augusta, Green said she sees many opportunities for growth at her new position as assistant coach in Division I women’s basketball in a major league, the Atlantic Coast Conference.

“As a coach you’re always learning,” she said. “It’s a lot of opportunity for me to grow as well.”
