Augusta's Thomas finishes 14th, Mohamed 15th in Southeast Regional

Augusta University’s Madison Thomas took 14th for the women’s cross-country team and Nasrudin Mohamed finished 15th on the men’s side at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at Wingate University in North Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Thomas, the Peach Belt runner of the year, finished the 6-kilometer race in 22 minutes and 32.7 seconds. In the men’s race, Mohamed moved up steadily throughout the race and finished in a time of 32:08.9.
Both runners advance to the NCAA Division II national championships.
Thomas’s teammate Danielle Thayer finished 28th in 23:18.44, and Maria Biondollilo came in 34th in 23:38.95. In next for the Jaguars was Josabeth Graciano in 23:49.47, good for 40th. Rounding out the AU top five was Gabriella Burton in 50th with a time of 23:55.65.
Both AU teams finished fifth.
After Mohamed, Oscar Curry finished 24th, Caleb Darsey 26th, Eli Corn 31st and Andrew Helfers 36th for Augusta.
Wingate won both regional championships, followed by Catawba and Flagler on the women’s side and Anderson and Flagler on the men’s side. The Wingate men just missed a perfect score of 15 by one point.
All of the top three advance to the nationals in two weeks in Kenosha, Wis.
