Students at Augusta University are preparing for final exams as the spring semester draws to a close, which is typically a period of increased stress and anxiety. The university provides a range of tools and activities to help students through this trying time, with the goal of encouraging both academic achievement and well-being.

The “Fuel Your Finals” program, hosted by the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE), offers students working on papers and presentations writing support, snacks and a positive atmosphere. These resources have helped students cope with the stress of finals week.

Alex Martinez, a sophomore studying biology, said that he found the resources offered to be useful.

"I was able to decompress and briefly forget about my tests by going to the therapy dog session,” he said. “The relaxation was badly needed."

Jamie Lynn, a senior English major, also stressed the value of using school resources

"The staff at the Writing Center was really helpful when I was reviewing my final work,” Lynn said. “Their remarks gave me more self-assurance.”

The Center urges students to use personal stress reduction methods outside of campus events. These include making a study plan to break down big assignments, eating a healthy diet and getting adequate sleep, exercising by doing yoga or walking, and using mindfulness exercises like deep breathing to maintain composure and focus.

Students are encouraged to use the resources at their disposal and adopt stress-reduction strategies as finals week draws near, in order to successfully get through this challenging period. They can visit the Reese Library and Academic Success Center websites for additional details about forthcoming programs and available resources.
