Five tips for crushing finals week

School is almost over and finals are right around the corner. Stress is building up and everyone usually starts to panic around this time. Finding a balance of finals and life are extremely important. Maybe you don’t know how to maintain that balance.

Here are five tips that will help you get through finals week:

  1. Have a study plan. You can organize your studying by class and give each class a certain amount of time. If a class is harder than the others, give that class a little more time to study in comparison to your other classes. Highlight every key point you can find and write them down. Within this plan, make sure you leave time for yourself which leads me to tip number two.

    2. Take a break. Give yourself multiple breaks so you don’t crash and burn from nonstop studying. Reward yourself with something that you like to do. Give your brain a much-needed break. Make sure you eat and sleep right so you don’t lose that energy. If you make sure your health is good, you are already on your way to passing those finals.

    3. Seek help. You are not alone and Augusta University has some resources that you can use. You can talk to your peers and see if they can help you study. Ask your teachers for any advice or clarification of something that you may not understand. The Academic Success Center is always an option if you need tutoring or help. For more information about the Academic Success Center, please go to their website at www.augusta.edu/academicsuccess.

    4. Manage your stress. Some people love to play sports while others like to chill and watch tv. Meditation or yoga is also a great idea if you need to clear your mind. Even a simple nap can go a long way to help prepare you for your finals. Take a rest and do some deep breaths. If you already have a specific way of getting rid of stress, make sure that you are utilizing that during this crucial part of the semester.

    5. Calm down and relax. You are most likely in your own head because finals weigh so much towards your final grade. You are probably panicking from the thought of failing and that’s completely normal. Take some time to think positive thoughts because you have put in the work. In the simplest of terms, you just need to get out of your own head and ace that test.

In conclusion, finals week can be a super stressful time for a student. However, if you apply these five tips, you will be that much closer to crushing your finals. Always remember, if you still feel that pressure and it’s overwhelming you, don’t be scared to ask someone for help because there’s always a AU Jaguar that is ready to help you succeed.
