Welcome Back Bash brings the house down at Christenberry Fieldhouse

Augusta University hosted its annual Welcome Back Bash on Friday, Aug. 15, at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
It was a bash consistently talked about among the students of AU in the days leading up to the event.
Although the bash was held in a new setting this year because of yet another increase in the enrollment of the student body, the enthusiasm for the night was all but exploding from the walls.
As students walked into Christenberry, they immediately felt the pulse of today’s most popular songs being played by the DJ. Students were dancing while taking their seats, flaunting their school spirit with their complementary “Go Jags!” sports towels and glow sticks—opening up the night with movement and electricity right off the bat.
To kick off the event, the hosts, Z and Alex, introduced each fraternity and sorority at AU. As their names were called, some organizations even began to shout chants that they had prepared— showing their school spirit and excitement for their chapters.
The biggest part of the night was the introduction of each of Augusta University’s sports teams. Each team ran out, accompanied by the DJ’s upbeat song selections— rendering each of the teams a dance break and loud applause.
AU’s men’s baseball team had a very extravagant entrance, dancing and jumping collectively. Until two teammates fell of the stage in a moment of sheer excitement and accidentally brought down the backdrop’s curtains. However, it truly was just a show of how this Welcome Back Bash hyped up the students so much that it literally brought the house down.
ShaRon Dukes, AU’s assistant vice president for Student Life and Engagement, shared her thoughts with how the night went, saying that she thought it went very well. Her words were actually cut off by shouts from the audience because of the silent disco taking place behind her. She also shared her plans for next year, already brainstorming more efficient ways of transportation and check-in.
Students left the fieldhouse with smiles on their faces and memories made on a rip-roaring Friday night in Augusta.
