Both Augusta University tennis programs walked away with 4-3 victories over Coker on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, at the Newman Tennis Center, with each squad rallying through singles play to secure the win.

On the women’s side, Augusta earned its first victory of the 2026 season in dramatic fashion. After dropping the doubles point, the Jaguars flipped the momentum in singles, taking four of six courts to clinch the match.

Maria Gento delivered a steady straight-set win at No. 2, while Luciana Bejarano battled through three sets at No. 3 to give Augusta an edge. Camila Taborga and Giovanna Patrocinio, who also teamed up for the Jaguars’ lone doubles win earlier in the day, each added singles victories, with Patrocinio sealing the match at No. 6 in dominant fashion.

The men followed a similar script.

Coker swept all three doubles courts to grab the early lead, but Augusta responded by winning four singles matches to secure the comeback victory and improve to 2-2 on the season.

Arthur Valette and Alexis Bailhache each grinded out three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Humberto Pinto added a key point at No. 5, and Enzo Sakiyama clinched the team win at No. 6 to cap off the rally.

Both matches came down to the wire, but Augusta controlled the singles courts when it mattered most.

The women travel to Belmont Abbey on Friday, while the men hit the road to face Division I opponent Campbell on Saturday.
