Students, community members invited to participate in AU presidential search

By Rakiyah Lenon | Editor in chief

Augusta University’s Presidential Search Committee is hosting listening sessions Dec. 6-7 with the goal to learn what the community has in mind for the next president .

Back in September, President Brooks Keel announced his plans to retire at the end of the spring 2024 semester, creating the need for a national search to find a replacement. A presidential search committee was named on Nov. 9 by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

Jim Hull, presidential search committee chair and Board of Regents member, said the committee would like to hear from students, faculty, staff and the community to see which qualities AU’s next president should have.

“This is your chance to share your thoughts and ideas about the presidential priorities and your aspirations for the university,” he said. “Your valuable input will help inform the search profile and assist the committee as we begin evaluating candidates.”

Below is a list of times and locations with accompanying zoom links for those who would like to attend virtually.

Each of the sessions are specifically categorized into respective groups, though anyone is welcome to join any session if they are unable to attend the specific time or location for their group.
