5 things to do this fall pause to celebrate the spooky season

This week is fall pause for Augusta University students and with the extended Break comes more free time and with that free you might as well make this a fun extended weekend and to get you in the mood for the spooky season.

To start off with a low budget and at home activity that’s inspired by the TikTok trends. A Halloween themed movie night which includes carving pumpkins, baking spooky cookies, wearing Halloween themed pjs and watching a scary movie with friends or partners while eating sweet treats and snacks.

If you are more into getting out of the house a local attraction to go to is Plantation Blood. A haunted house horror attraction that has scares, music, food and vendors on location. The scare team changes the scenes each year and adds new scare actors with different characters and situations to find yourself in. This could be a great way to kick start your October and fall season.

Alternatively if you feel like artificial haunted houses aren’t your thing a good alternative could be historical haunts. Augusta Adventure: Guided Experience Tours & Events are hosting Broadway Ghosts and Graveyards in Downtown Augusta, historical haunted houses and sites that you can explore with a group and learn fun facts, hidden details, local superstitions and more.

Now if you aren’t all into the spooky and scary there are a couple of alternatives to do this weekend in the downtown area. Such as the Women of Rock & Soul hosted by Ryan Abel and The Augusta Players, a Celebration of Women in Rock and Roll, Jazz, Blues and Soul Music over the last 100 years. Additionally the Miller Theatre is also hosting a showing of Little Shop of Horrors.

Being hosted at the Imperial Theater on October 10th doors open at 6:30p.m. and the show starts at 7:30p.m. Featuring Brooke Lundy, Ashley Rivera, and Jaycie Ward as well as Rachel Goodman, Janika Ivey, Jewett Mukenge, Katie Reagan, Christina Shorter, Laura Thomas, and EUYU with special guest: Bethany Davis. Meanwhile, Miller will be hosting the show on Sunday Oct 12th at 2p.m. Buy tickets before time runs out.

Lastly if you’re looking for some simple fun and good drinks, you can look no further than Ding Tea off of Washington Rd and Davis Rd. Ding Tea is hosting a night of fun karaoke from 8p.m. To 11p.m. This free event allows you to sing your favorite songs while enjoying their menu of bubble tea, ramen, and other snacks.

I hope this short list of fun, spooky and not so spooky activities to do this weekend has hopefully contributed to your enjoyment of this years Fall Pause and can help reduce the stress of being a college student even if it’s just for the weekend.
