AU planting cedar trees at Summerville Campus entrance

Staff report

The Walton Way entrance to the Summerville Campus of Augusta University has been closed this week so that large cranes can be used to help plant deodar cedar trees.

AU is rerouting traffic at the Summerville Campus

Barricades have been set up to close off the main entrance to the Summerville Campus. The road is closed from Taylor Street along University Hall to the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. The plan is to remove the barricades by the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Students, faculty and staff are directed to enter campus utilizing either Katherine Street or Arsenal Avenue.

Both streets are right-turn-only on Walton Way. Drivers wishing to turn left onto Walton Way will need to access the traffic lights via either Johns Street via Pickens Road from Katherine Street or Monte Sano via Bellevue Avenue from Arsenal.

Those who catch the shuttle at University Hall must go to Allgood Hall in the meantime.

The walking path that runs parallel to both Taylor Street and Walton Way is closed.
