Amidst the roars of cheering students, Augusta University crowned a new Homecoming King and Queen. Jaden Scott and Je’Bria Fullwood accepted their new titles on Feb 16.

“The moment I heard my name,” said Scott, “I instantly felt gratitude and was very appreciative of all the love being shown by everyone.”

Scott described feeling shocked as they put the crown and sash on him, and also thrilled. He stated he is eager to start his journey as Homecoming King and uphold Augusta University to the highest regard.

“Every campaigning event,” he said, “every shared post, every word of affirmation is what carried me through the week. I am forever grateful for the bonds I was able to make along the journey.”

Scott will obtain a degree in psychology this December and plans to attend graduate school at AU to become a clinical psychologist. He currently serves as chapter president of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and is active on The Crew student programming board, 2024 Student Influencers, and the Black Student Union.

“I would like to thank the AU student body for playing a vital role in my Homecoming journey,” said Scott. “I cannot wait to create new memories with you all in the next year.”

Fullwood also described feeling overwhelmed with gratitude and relief when she heard her name announced. She stated she was filled with tears of excitement and that it still doesn’t feel real.

“It was a beautiful moment,” said Fullwood, “in knowing that all of my efforts and encouragement from my family, friends, and peers had paid off.”

Fullwood stated she believes God wouldn’t have opened this door for her if it wasn’t already written in her story, and that if she puts her mind to something, she can make it happen.

“I’m really excited about this new role,” said Fullwood, “and the opportunities that are to come.”

Fullwood graduated from a top private school in Greensboro and is currently a health, society and policy major. She participates on the women’s basketball team, student-athlete advisory committee, and the Black Student Union.

“I would encourage AU,” she said, “to surpass any goals you set for yourself, as well as be the best you while doing it.”

In addition to the new Homecoming King and Queen, Augusta University also welcomes and congratulates 2024 Homecoming Duke and Duchess, John Blalock and Addisen Coker, respectively.
