AU women’s golf team playing in Moon Golf Invitational in Florida

AU coach Caroline Haase-Hegg will lead the Jaguars women’s golf team as they compete in their second competition of the 2021 spring season on Feb. 14-16 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.

The tournament is hosted by the University of Louisville and will take place on the Duran Golf Club.

Coming off a disappointing finish at the Heroes Intercollegiate tournament last week, the team hopes to improve their 14th place finish in today’s tournament. The fourth annual Moon Golf tournament consists of a fully Division I 18-team field.

The teams competing are Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Augusta, Coastal Carolina, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, Miami, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, UCF and Virginia.

The Jaguars competed in last week’s tournament with five players. Teresa Diez-Moliner placed 35th overall, finishing 8 over par at 224 over the three days.

Napabhach Boon-In placed 39th, earning a score of 225.

Mary Hunt Murray and Nicole Page both finished tied for 65th. Charlotte Alran rounded out the top five with a 73rd-place finish. .

The competition began at 9:45 a.m. each day.

Update: AU found itself tied for 15th with Oklahoma after the first round of the tournament. The University of South Carolina was in first place. Low round for the Jaguars on Day One was turned in by Napabhach Boon-In with a 75.
