After battling rough windy conditions, the Jaguars were able to secure a first place finish their first win since Southland Conference back in the Spring of 2025.
Their first tournament of the Spring season in Charleston, SC was cancelled due to wintery weather condition.
Going into round one of the Gulf Coast Collegiate the Jaguars faced tough conditions to give them a rocky start.
Pieter Rossouw gives insight saying, “The conditions were definitely not ideal, and the scores reflect that.”
However, the men persevered and in round three the Jaguars shot 1-under par which would go on to be the best round of the tournament and for Augusta overall.
Chapman Barnett and Pieter Rossouw both tied for first alongside St. Johns’ Joseph Dolezal winning medalist honors and a score of 9-over-par.
All five Jaguars placed in the top 20 with Dean Wilken in 10th, Bo Blanchard in 14th and Josh Daniels at 19th.
“We are off to a strong start and will now go home and reflect on what we did in New Orleans and hopefully keep the momentum going,” said Rossouw.
The men are off to a confident start in the Spring season and look ahead as they prepare for field of competition in the months to come.
The Jaguars will head to Statesboro, GA to compete in the Schenkel Invitational March 13-15.
On the women’s side, the team played at the UNF Collegiate and finished in a tie for fourth place on Tuesday Feb. 24. The Jaguars were led by Sara Adams and Sofia Valera, who both finished inside the top then on the individual side. The tournament was won by a strong Oklahoma State team in a pool that featured other big name schools such as Miami, USF, and Furman.
The Jaguar women now have a quick turnaround to a special tournament, the More than Golf Invitational hosted by the Annika Foundation at the Old Barnwell Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.
Beyond the competition, the event also emphasizes mentorship and professional development.
“We get to have a dinner with women executives from all over the country,” Adams said. “They tell us how they got to their position and give us advice and also just provide any type of mentorship.”
The tournament begins March 1 and runs through Tuesday, March 3.
