Guard Ayers leads AU women to upset of No. 2 Coker on the road

The Augusta University got a major win at Coker on Tuesday night, Nov. 25, downing the Cobras 72-69 in a non-conference NCAA DIvision II game in Hartsville, S.C.

Elyse Autry had 19 points to lead the Jaguars (3-1), and teammate Quinasia Abercrombie added 16 as AU got a victory over the No. 2-ranked Cobras. Sierra Burns chipped in 15 points for Augusta.

A 24-point second quarter lifted AU to a 38-32 halftime lead. Coker outscored the Jags 20-14 in the third to tie the game, but Augusta won the final quarter 20-17 to eke out the victory.

The Jaguars led 70-64 with 1:42 left and held on for the big road win.

AU shot 45 percent, compared to 42 percent for Coker (4-1).

Shawnteanna Tillman led Coker with 20 points, and Yasmine Cook added 18.

AU will play host Flagler on Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
