Charges dropped against former AU student-athlete

A former Augusta University student-athlete who was arrested last February for stealing and pawning a teammate’s necklace from the women’s locker room at Christenberry Fieldhouse has recently had the charges against her dropped.

Lauren Marie Posa, a kinesiology major from Johns Creek and former co-caption of the volleyball team, was taken into custody on a felony theft charge and later released on a $5,700 bond.

According to a recent nolle prosequi order from the Richmond County court, Posa completed her required community service by Sept. 4, 2026, and the state of Georgia granted her request to dismiss the theft charge.

Posa graduated from Augusta University in May 2026.
