Jaguar women's golf team prepares for RedBird Invitational

The Augusta University women’s golf team is set to head out this weekend to Normal, Ill., to compete in the RedBird Invitational on Sept 13-14.
The Jaguars will be competing in the 54-hole tournament against many northern universities, such as South Dakota State University, University of Denver and host Illinois State University.
Representing the AU women’s golf team will be Puntita Pawichai, Danielle Higbee, McKinley Holding, Sara Adams and Sofia Valera.
After seeing how the team performed so well at their last tournament, the Tiger Classic in Clemson, S.C., the Jaguars are ready to keep the ball rolling. A standout performance came from Sara Adams, who placed first in the tournament at 5 under par. The led the Jaguars to a second-place finish overall with host Clemson University placing first and East Carolina University placing third.
The AU women will play at the D.A. Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University. It has a par of 71 and a maximum yardage of 6,978. The Jaguars are used to training on their home course at the Forest Hills Golf Club, which has a par of 72 with a max yardage of 7,140, or they switch it up and play at the newly revitalized golf course, The Patch, which has a par of 71 and the max yardage of 5,735 yards.
Having access to both golf courses regularly helps the Jaguar team adapt to playing in different conditions.
The RedBird Invitational will start with 36 holes on Sept. 13, and the remaining 18 holes will be played on Sept. 14, with the awards presentation following shortly afterwards.
Host Illinois State played in AU’s tournament at Forest Hills this past March.
Thirteen teams are competing in the RedBird Invitational.

Following this tournament, AU will be competing at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
